MountainStar's Urgent Care network named "Best of SLC"
Utah's CareNow® clinics chosen by voters and online reviewers as the top local urgent care option.
Salt Lake City, Utah — Voters and online reviewers recognized the Utah CareNow® network as the top choice for urgent care, according to the Best of SLC™ award. The eight CareNow clinics along the Wasatch Front are part of MountainStar Healthcare, a Utah-based health system serving a million annual patient interactions.
“This recognition is especially meaningful to us because it comes directly from the people who trust us with their care,” said Dr. Laura Anderson, CareNow’s medical director in Utah.
The Best of SLC is an annual awards program that captures the opinions and preferences of tens of thousands of Salt Lake area residents. In addition to an online voting period, program administrators also factored in online reviews from April 2022 through April 2023, as well as other reputational sources.
The CareNow clinics in Salt Lake, West Jordan, Murray and Bountiful joined the MountainStar Healthcare family in 2021. Since then, the urgent care network has added four new clinics in South Jordan, American Fork, West Point and Orem. Patients can also check in for a virtual visit at CareNow.com and connect with an urgent care provider in a real-time, fully interactive visit.
“Urgent care plays such an important role in the larger healthcare landscape,” Anderson added. “Especially in fast-growing Utah, people are increasingly seeking access to high-quality, convenient care options for less serious medical situations. That’s why we’re adding locations and making it easier to connect with CareNow, and as part of the MountainStar network, we’re able to connect patients to a broader network when a higher level of care or specialty service is needed.”
CareNow clinics are best for minor injuries and illnesses, including cold, flu, fevers, sprains, strains, minor burns, cuts that may need stitches, bug bites, rashes and more. The clinics also offer X-rays, certain lab work, and sports physicals.
For further advice when deciding where to seek care for a medical issue, MountainStar Healthcare operates a free 24/7 Consult-A-Nurse® phone line. Registered nurses at (435) 900-STAR can suggest ways to treat and monitor a situation at home, or they can offer advice as to the best place to receive care for a specific issue. “If you’re not sure where to go, call Consult-A-Nurse or connect with us for a virtual visit,” Anderson said. “Of course, for a life-threatening emergency, always call 911 first.”
In all, MountainStar Healthcare serves patients at 80 Utah care sites, including the nine Utah CareNow clinics and 13 Joint Commission-accredited emergency rooms from Logan to Payson. MountainStar is affiliated with HCA Healthcare, which operates more than 180 CareNow locations across the U.S.
