Five Mountain Division hospitals earn 'A' grades for patient safety
Five hospitals in HCA Healthcare’s Mountain Division earned “A” Hospital Safety Grades for patient safety from The Leapfrog Group, including three facilities that are part of Utah’s MountainStar Healthcare network: Lakeview Hospital, Ogden Regional Medical Center and Mountain View Hospital.
These facilities and two of their Mountain Division peer hospitals in Idaho were among the hospitals recognized for their commitment to patient safety, according to the independent national organization. Twice per year, Leapfrog assigns an “A,” “B,” “C,” “D” or “F” grade to general hospitals across the country using evidence-based measures of patient safety focused exclusively on errors, accidents, injuries and infections.
“We recognize the importance of measuring quality and safety in patient care. Our highly skilled caregivers provide patients with exceptional care each day,” said Sabrina Braun, chief nurse executive for the Mountain Division. “Each of our hospitals sustained or improved their prior Hospital Safety Grade from earlier this year, which shows our team’s commitment to protecting patients.”
The Mountain Division is an award-winning network with 11 hospitals and roughly 100 total sites of care in Utah, Idaho and Alaska. It serves over 1.5 million annual patient interactions and is part of HCA Healthcare, a leading national healthcare provider.
“Our connection to HCA Healthcare helps us enhance the care we deliver to our communities,” said Troy Wood, chief executive officer at Lakeview Hospital, which earned its 19th consecutive “A” grade. “Our team is passionate about serving their neighbors, and when you combine that dedication with the knowledge, best practices and research from a national leader, the result is high-quality care that saves and improves lives.”
Braun added: “All across the Mountain Division, we continue to enhance patient safety by elevating the voice of our nurses, physicians and other care team members. We regularly measure and report hundreds of quality and patient safety data points, and we’ve been recognized for our excellence both within HCA Healthcare and by external organizations like The Leapfrog Group.”
The Hospital Safety Grade program is peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public. Grades are updated twice annually, in the fall and spring. The Leapfrog Group was founded in 2000.
